The honest measurements

Ask them the way you’d answer our measuring room, honestly and quickly. Is the money you play with fully separate from the money you live on? Do sessions end when you decided they would, or when something else decides? Has poker started paying for its own losses, with deposits sized to chase rather than to play? Do the people around you know how much you play? A wrong answer to any of these is a measurement that matters more than anything a room could offer.

The basics, always

Your bankroll is entertainment money, fully separate from living money. Set deposit limits at every room the day you register; every fitting on this site says the same because it is the best alteration there is. Decide session stop times before you sit. Never play with borrowed money, and never make poker your plan for paying a bill. Skill reduces variance’s share of the outcome; it never removes it.
